Anisphia Wynn Palettia (アニスフィア・ウィン・パレッティア Anisufia Win Parettia), nicknamed Anis (アニス Anisu), is the main protagonist of the light novel series The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady. She is the first princess of the Kingdom of Palettia.
Appearances[]
Anisphia is a young lady with medium-length platinum gold hair and green eyes of slightly below-average height. She is also noted to have a rather large bust. In terms of attire, she wears a personalized dress composed of a white shirt and jacket with a pinkish-red skirt alongside similarly white kneesocks. She also wears black boots and ties up her hair with similarly black hair ribbons.
Following the two-year time skip between volumes 4 and 5, Anis is noted to have grown a little bit taller but is still shorter than average. On the other hand, Euphillia noted that her breasts have grown considerably.
Personality[]
Anisphia is infamously known as Princess Peculiar (キテレツ王女 Kiteretsu Ōjo) due to her eccentric personality where she does whatever she pleases without seemingly any regard for her royal title. This stems partly from her memories of her previous life on Earth, bringing her modern, 21st-century values into her new medieval world. As a result, she finds royal etiquette to be tiresome and would rather avoid it whenever possible. Still, she is capable of proper royal mannerisms, but it will quickly exhaust her. On the other hand, Anisphia is incredibly sociable when she can just be herself, openly sharing her feelings and joking around. She is also quite perceptive, able to deduce any situation with just a few clues.
The other part of this eccentricity comes from her deep love for magic, admitting to being obsessed with it. Even after discovering that she had no aptitude for magic, Anisphia never cursed it and instead advocated "magical science," or "magicology" for short, trying to invent a branch of magic that she could use. To this end, she endlessly experimented, never once giving up or letting others' doubts about her research affect her. To fund her research and get materials, she also took up a job as an adventurer, once again showing a complete disregard for her royal title.
Anisphia is also an out-of-closet lesbian. While claiming this to be an excuse for her not wanting to have children, as she wants to fully focus on her research, she truly never had any romantic interest in the opposite gender. However, while not mincing words to girls she found to be "cute," she did not feel any attraction toward women either beyond a surface level. That was until she opened up to Euphyllia about being from another world and subsequently "[fell] head over heels for her" after the latter accepted her regardless.
During the struggle to resolve the issue surrounding the throne, she shared her thoughts with Euphyllia. After Euphyllia ascended to the throne, she took a rest period, and after that she worked behind the scenes of the newly established Ministry of Magic, assisting her newcomers.
Anisphia confessed to Euphie that she fears that after awakening the memories of a previous life she is a "fake" who erased the existence of the real Anisphia from her parents. It takes Euphie's assurance that she is "real" to be able to fully accept who she is.
While Anisphia is fine with people taking time to accept her inventions, she becomes frustrated by the discrimination she faces from the Magical Administration.
History[]
Anisphia was born a "Traveler," meaning her soul originated from another world (in her case Earth). At the age of five, she suddenly remembers the memories of her previous life (more precisely, knowledge and information such as science and culture) and realizes that she is a reincarnated person.
She dreamed of using magic, but she couldn't use magic because she didn't have the proper attribute despite having a huge amount of magical power. Still, she didn't give up and advocated a "study that scientifically elucidates magic"... "Magical science" (abbreviated as "magicology"), and since then she has developed various magic tools based on this theory.
Abilities[]
Being a "Traveler," Anisphia has no aptitude for magic at all. However, through continued experiments, even going as far as to tattoo a dragon's magicite onto her body, she managed to create all sorts of magical gadgets, known as "magicology," that are able to perform feats not possible through orthodox magic. In addition, her regular hunting of monsters to gather materials has molded her into one of the strongest fighters within the Kingdom of Palettia, behind only Euphyllia, Count Magenta, and her own mother.
Natural abilities[]
- Intelligence: Without a doubt, Anisphia's greatest asset is her own mind.
- Inventor: Anisphia renowned as a genius inventor who created the concept of "magicology". While her creativity partly comes from her memories of her previous life, it is also her own ingenuity that allowed her to replicate much of her old world's technology with the medieval tools at her disposal.
- Deductive Skills: Anisphia is great at making deductions, capable of understanding any situation through minimal observation and quickly making up her best term of action. This also makes her a great detective, with even her own mother noting that she can see things that others cannot.
- Physical Prowess: Due to her work as an Adventurer along with her mother's Spartan-like training, Anisphia is an incredibly skilled fighter who managed to develop her own original fighting-style that specializes in hunting monsters.
Magic[]
- Magic Power: Despite her inability to use conventional magic, being royalty, Anisphia possesses a huge amount of magic power, to the point that she had to put a limiter on her Mana Blade to prevent her from accidentally breaking it.
- Magic Flow: Anisphia can sense the flow of magic power within herself and others through skin contact, even deducing that there is a piece of Magicite in Lainie's body this way.
Impressed Seal[]
- Dragonic Strength: By melting down and tattooing the magicite that she scavenged from a dragon which she slew onto her back, dubbed an "Impressed Seal", Anisphia is able to greatly enhance her physical abilities by pouring her magic power into it, to the point of allowing her to throw a fully grown man across a wide room.
- Dragon Breath: By focussing the power from her Impressed Seal into her mouth, Anisphia is capable of replicating a dragon's breath attack in the form of a wide shockwave, allowing her to easily blow away Algard's ice magic.
- Hypnosis Immunity: The Impressed Seal automatically activates when Anisphia is under a mental attack, like Lainie's mystic eyes, disrupting the normal flow of magic power in her body and causing the attack to fail.
Equipment[]
- Magic Drug: Pills produced from crushed tempered magicite that act as a physical enhancement spells. However, it can result in several side-effects like fatigue, personality change, and muscle cramps, which only grows more intense the more are taken.
- Witch's Broom (魔女箒 Majo Hōki): A magic tool created by Anisphia that takes on the form of a broom. It is imbued with the magicite from an A-rank monster that can control of flow of wind, allowing it to be used as a vehicle to fly in the sky with a speed of up to 740-930 km/h.
- Airbike: A mass-produced version of the Witch's Broom. Finding the magic tool to be too cumbersome for anyone but herself to handle, Anisphia redesigned it based on scooters from her previous life.
- Mana Shield (マナ・シールド Mana Shīrudo): A magic tool created by Anisphia that is imbued with spirit stones that can block fire magic, ice magic, and physical attacks.
- Cloak: A cloak created by Anisphia that's resistant to heat and cold.
- Mana Blade (マナ・ブレイド Mana Bureido): A magic tool that takes on the form of a sword hilt imbued with an A-rank spirit stone. It absorbs magic energy from the wielder and releases it in the form of an energy blade capable of cutting through anything, the size and length of which can be freely adjusted. However, there is a limit to the amount of magic that can be absorbed, with a limiter having been built into it to prevent it from being accidentally broken. This flaw was actually intentionally; she could have further stabilized the blade but that would have caused it to crystalize and not seem as "magical".
- Celestial: An upgraded version of the Mana Blade that was crafted using dragon materials. Anisphia also corrected the original's flaw of unstable output by having the blade to crystallize upon creation, causing it to seem like a regular sword from a distance.
- Mana Wings: A flying magic tool imbued with spirit stones; the appearance of sky-blue wings spread accelerates. The flying magic tools are built with a safety system for the user when it lands, a buoyancy effect, and decreases the speed towards the ground at once, the same aspect with flying.
Weaknesses[]
- Dragon Curse: The dragon who Anisphia took the magicite for her Impressed Seal from has prophesied that her usage of its power will eventually turn her into a dragon herself.
- Impressed Seal Backlash: The Impressed Seal is so powerful that it threatens to overwhelm Anisphia whenever she uses it. At the same time, it also consumes a huge amount of magic power, leaving her exhausted afterward and even knocking her out if used for too long.
- Ranged Attacks: Anisphia's greatest weakness, which even she herself admits to, is her lack of ranged attacks, which forced her to be on the defensive during her fights with both Algard and Euphyllia.
Trivia[]
- According to Lumielle, Anisphia regaining her memories of her previous life is unique to her, as this had never happened before to any other Traveler. Additionally, her being a 'Traveler' is part of the reason she cannot complete a spirit covenant like Euphyllia.
- The story of Anisphia inheriting the throne mirrors that of her father when he was younger: both did not want it but were dutybound after their siblings were no longer able.
- The difference is that, whereas her father went through with it, Anisphia was given an out in the form of Euphyllia gaining royal status after completing her spirit covenant.
- Anisphia's first name is sometimes mistranslated as "Anne-Sophia" by fans before the official description by Yen Press.
- Some fans have come to the mistaken assumption that Anisphia was male in her previous life, which the author, Piero Karasu, shut down.[1]
